Paschal Life: Wednesday, June 3, 2020 – Pass it On!
and the Memorial of Saint Charles Lwanga & Companions

    Dear SPB Family and Friends:

Here’s our link for this week’s Wednesday Reflection, an adapted version of our annual “Pass It On Mass.” We invite all our school families to be together to participate in the event of prayer, remembering the Class of 2020 and the passing it on of the leadership and grade levels blessing:

RETURNING TO NORMAL? I know for many of you, like me, it’s been hard adjusting to masks, no physical contact with folks (hugs, kisses, handshakes, etc.). Meeting have been over many computer/phone apps, and very restrictive.  As we slowly “open up” we are now having Masses, small funerals, small weddings, baptisms outside of Mass, some volunteers working in the Helping Hands Pantry, and in-person meetings. A few groups have asked when they are able to return here on the campus.

Please give me a call or an email to request returning; we have certain protocols to follow and maybe adjust your room, wear masks, disinfect rooms, bathrooms, and the like.  We need to coordinate these events/meetings with proper cleaning procedures with our maintenance staff. We rely also doing so in a way that respects our new living together as we gradually and slowly regain some of our usual Paschal ways.

REMINDER ABOUT LIVE/TAPED MASS: Please help us with your patience and know that we are no longer videotaping our Mass in the Bourgeois Broadcasting Booth where we had “studio quality.” We are now using our regular phone or iPad to produce the Mass in the church and its LIVE, as it happens, with no editing or stopping as we “tape.”  The quality of the sound and picture is and WILL BE DIFFERENT. We have been looking into folks lending us their very expensive studio-quality equipment: no luck just yet.  Thanks for understanding. Or as the saying goes, “Don’t adjust your TV. There is nothing wrong with your set.”

ATTENDANCE? The obligation to attend Mass continues to be suspended. When you feel healthy/comfortable, or just able, you are welcome back, for we have plenty of space and love having you hear.  Our regular occupancy is 1,000. With distancing we have it set for 300 with the Green Crosses telling you to “SIT HERE.” Here’s this past weekend’s final attendance totals:

    • 4:30 Saturday 100 (normal average 375)
    • 8:30 Sunday             104 (that old 8’s normal average was 200)
    • 10:30 Sunday           110 (the old 10 & 12’s averages were 350 & 235 respectively)
    • 7:00 Sunday             56 (normal average is 185)

BODY & BLOOD OF CHRIST – SUNDAY, JUNE 14: Our special solemnity celebrations will be different this year with no procession.  However, we will still have prayer in the church from  after the new 10:30 Mass, with exposition with the Blessed Sacrament until 4:30 PM & Evening Prayer with the Blessed Sacrament Community.  Please plan on signing up for a ½ hour between 11:30 & 3:30 PM. Here are our plans already for the afternoon & evening Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament/Prayer in church:

    • 11:30 – 12:30 PM Prayers starting with the Lewis Family
    • 12:30 – 3:30 PM other Associates of the Blessed Sacrament & YOU & YOUR FAMILY?
    • 3:30 – 4:30 Novena with Saint Peter Julian Eymard
    • 4:30 – 5:00 PM Evening Prayer
    • 7:00 – 8:00 PM Mass
    • 8:00 – 9:00 PM and more – Youth Group in the style of “praise & worship”

THANKS FOR YOUR TITHING & STEWARDSHIP: Your generosity and thoughtfulness our inspiring!  We appreciate your support for the church’s operation. The next 100K phase of our Capital Campaign, “Forward in Faith, Hope & Love,” continues this week as the equipment and rebuilding of the next part to Blue Ribbon Way (road on the east side of the campus) continues. Seal Tech is also going to be giving a donation to improve the east parking lot to get us thru until we rebuild this parking lot.  Thanks for your support of them and give them a thank you when you see them!

SUNDAY’S BLOOD DRIVE:  From our coordinator, Anne Marie Moore:
“The American Red Cross will be here for a Blood Drive this Sunday, June 7 from 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM in Father O’Brien Hall. Blood donors are ESSENTIAL for the health of our community . . . according to the FDA and other official sources! Due to the pandemic, the Red Cross has added extra precautions to its usual routine.  Donations will be taken by appointment only.  Please schedule your visit at   www.redcrossblood.org/give (sponsor code: stpaschal).  Walk-ins will be taken only in the event of cancellations.  If Sunday comes and you want to donate (but forgot to make an appointment), please call our Red Cross Representative, Mandi, at 216-339-9536.  She will be monitoring donor participation and can let you know if there are any time slots available.”

DON’T FORGET: Our Manna Ministry second collection is coming Sunday, June 14.  You have been vital in helping our OWN parishioners in their time of need during this crisis. We have helped so many. Thanks for your generous support, using the special envelope in our packet – or writing a special check to SPB with the memo line saying: Manna Ministry.

MINISTRY BANNERS: Our Art & Environment Committee asked our parish ministry/committee/groups to make a special banner to hang around the perimeter of the church advertising their ministry. Now that we are getting a little more normal, and we have cleaners to spray on fabric, we invite our leaders to return their banners to the parish office or to Father Lane so that we may start to display the ministries and help others see our great parish’s life.

I am lost for words how to thank all of you for your gifts and all the emails and cards. Thank you so very very much.  I want to also thank Lois Heil for making it the best birthday by organizing the parade ; all the work she put into setting everything up is so appreciated.
